Cowboys Need Rookies To Have Early Success

Rookies Key to Cowboys Offense

Last year the Dallas Cowboys offense was as unbalanced as it gets. In 2012 the Cowboys passing game was ranked 3rd and the rushing game 31st.  In order to make the playoffs this year and be a serious title contender the Cowboys must become more balanced.  This year 3 Cowboys offensive rookies are expected to make an immediate impact.

Importance of Each Rookie

Travis Frederick - Over the last 5 years we have watched Tony Romo scramble for his life all season long. Now that Romo is older Jerry is finally addressing the poor line issues.  Frederick is not only a critical component to help protect Romo he is also a crucial part to the running game.  Too many times last year we watched interior defensive lineman easily penetrate into backfield hitting Murray before the play even starts.  Some of Frederick's main strengths are his run blocking and nastiness.

Gavin Escobar - One of Dallas biggest problems offensively last season was the inability to score in the redzone.  Escobar can help the Cowboys offense by adding a new dimension to the offense.  Not only is Escobar a great redzone target he is a underrated run blocker as well helping his team rush for over 2800 yards last year.  The dual tight end formations have become very difficult for defenses to stop and now thanks to Escobar the Cowboys now have that ability.  A bonus benefit of the Cowboys adding Escobar is that it should reduce the number of Romo interceptions.

Terrance Williams - A major part of the Cowboys offensive struggles last year was its wide receiver depth.  Last year when Miles Austin was out of the lineup the Cowboys offense dropped off significantly.  Terrance Williams not only gives Dallas an insurance for Austin it also gives the Cowboys the ability to put 3 very productive wide receivers on the field at the same time.  Williams also gives the Cowboys another redzone target as well.
