After losing two consecutive wildcard playoff games in a row it became obvious to the Bengals coaching staff that if they wanted to succeed in the playoffs they will need to get more weapons beside AJ Green on the offensive side of the ball. In the 2013 NFL Draft head coach Marvin Lewis seized a golden opportunity to make his team better offensively. In the 1st round of the draft the Bengals managed to get the best tight end in the draft who just happen to fall into their laps. In the second round of the draft the Bengals also managed to get the steal of the round and drafted explosive running back Giovanni Bernard. The two draft picks should help the Bengals put up more points on the board immediately. Eifert gives the Bengals another redzone target and also gives them the ability to add dual tight end sets to their playbook. The addition of Eifert to go along with Jermaine Gresham gives the Bengals the best tight end dual in the NFL (Patriots released Aaron Hernandez earlier this week). Bernard gives the Bengals big play making ability from the backfield as not only as a runner but as a receiver as well something that it surely lack with Green Ellis in the backfield. With all the additions that the Bengals made to offense I can realistically picture the Bengals scoring 30 points a game this season.
